One final trip to Minnesota. We find ourselves in Shakopee today against a very familiar Lakes United squad. It was a beautiful day, a bit warm but a nice day none the less. Our team was ready and so were our fans.... Some 50 strong all decked out in white... Wow what a site that was
The first half was a bit back and forth early but as time went on the team seemed to get stronger and more confident. We connected on a lot of really excellent combination passing resulting in some quality shots but no scores. Halftime score was 0-0.
After some water and shade during the halftime break I saw determination in the eyes of every girl and it showed early in the second half. Immediate pressure and excellent team play resulted in an early goal. That spark was exactly what the team needed. The title was now in reach. As time ticked on the defense continued its control over the opponents and the offense added a second and third goal to ensure the result.
I am postive I have never been so happy to hear the final whislte in my life.
What a great game and season. Can you say:
"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!"
This championship game was the 9th shut out of the season.
The team out scored their opponents 49 to 9 in 16 games
I am so blessed to have been able to work with these girls.
A birth in the State Title game

It's Tuesday... Another trip to Mankato to face a Northern MN team. What started as a nice day turned hot as the breeze stopped and temp/humidity went up. So did the coaches blood pressure. We had another strong presence on the sidelines... So many friends and families to support the team.
Simple formula for today.... win and you're in....
The game was a bit back and forth early with nobody having clear advantage but midway through the half the Strikers broke through and scored for a 1-0 lead. We added another goal midway through the second half to make it 2-0 but there was a lot of time remaining. The Arrowhead pressure was relentless and kept us on our heels the remainder of the game. They did score on a corner kick late in the game setting up a wild final few minutes.
The girls were able to weather the storm and cheered together at midfield after the final whistle blew. A second 2 - 1 victory secured them a birth in the Championship game Saturday morning in Shakopee....
Good Bye Mankato... It was fun... I guess the long drive was worth it....
Thanks parents for getting the girls there. Thanks friends and family for being there all season to support the girls.... and thanks for letting me be a part of this tremendous journey.....
As I sat at the table after so many games and watched 8 - 10 girls cram into a corner booth to eat, tell jokes and laugh I am amazed at how close these kids really are. Yes, they are teammates but they are friends above all.
Sunday the girls traveled to Mankato and played an unbeaten MPLS United team. The game was rough and we fell behind in the first half 1-0; however the grit and determination came through and the girls posted a 2-1 victory to win this all important first game of pool play in the state tounament.

Its been a long season, with many games packed into a short few weeks due to HS soccer conflicts but the long road leads to Mankato for the State Tournament. Games on Sunday against MPLS United and Tuesday against a Northern MN team lay ahead. The team is ready for the challenge..
On to the State Tournament

After a game 1 victory in the qualifiers the stage was set. One more win would land the team a trip to the state tournament. It was not to be. The Lakes United team played a very strong game and handed the girls their first loss of the season;however, a path to the state tournament was still avaialble. The girls would have to travel to Coon Rapids and battle the second place team from the Norh Division.
We had a large number or parents and friends make the trip to Coon Rapids in support of the girls. The game was a struggle but ended with a tough win over a team from Esco, MN securing a place in the state tournament...
